Hi there! I'm Jannis, a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Structure and Mechanics of Advanced Materials group at PSI. I'm interested in the development and exploitation of novel techniques for structure characterisation using synchrotron light -- with my focus so far on dark-field imaging and small-angle scattering tensor tomography. My current project is looking at the very smallest microstructures present in bone, and how their organisation is related to mechanical properties, locomotion, and abnormalities such as osteoporosis.

Before starting at PSI, I completed my PhD at Monash University, under the primary supervision of A/Prof. Kaye Morgan, and in collaboration with the rest of the X-ray Imaging Group. Before that, I did an honours at the University of Canterbury in medical physics, and (an aeon ago now) a bachelor's in physics/maths at the University of Auckland.
